Megamastica gets
its name from its main ingredient, mastic gum (Pistacia lentiscus).
Mastic trees grow in only one place, an island in Greece called Chios.
The English word, “masticate,” to chew, comes from the word mastic;
after all, mastic was the world’s first chewing gum. Beyond being a
chewing gum, however, mastic has health promoting benefits. For
example, it is said that Cleopatra chewed mastic gum to freshen her
breath. This may, indeed, be true, because modern studies have shown
mastic to have some anti-bacterial action, and bad breath is often
caused, or aggravated, by bacteria.
Besides mastic gum, Megamastica contains four other herbs, plus
calcium. These ingredients were formulated by Dr. Dhiren Patel, an
Ayurvedic physician, in order to make Megamastica a dietary supplement
that may balance and support healthy digestive functioning in the body.
